Charlie Wilson — the legendary frontman of The Gap Band, the voice behind “You Dropped a Bomb on Me,” “Outstanding,” and decades of R&B classics — is performing live at VyStar Amphitheater in Stockbridge on Saturday night. He’s been selling out venues for 50 years and at 74 he is still one of the best performers in the business. Co-headlining is saxophonist and smooth R&B artist Mike Phillips, whose instrumentals have become a soundtrack for nights exactly like this one. Start your Saturday morning right. The Locust Grove Farmer’s Market is a weekly fixture in the south end of the county — local produce, handmade goods, and faces you recognize. Good way to get your weekend moving before the evening heats up.
One week old and already the hottest spot in the county. The $55 million Aquatic Center opened June 20 — if you missed the grand opening, this weekend is your chance. Arabia Mountain naturalists lead a 2.5-hour guided hike through the preserve — you’ll learn about local ecology, geology, and the unique landscape that makes Arabia Mountain unlike anything else near Henry County. No registration required. Bring water, wear boots, and show up.

Atlanta Wild Animal Rescue Effort gives free guided tours every weekend. A rare, close-up look at rescued native wildlife in the Arabia Mountain area. Great for kids who want to see something real. No cost, no registration. Weather permitting — check arabiaalliance.org before you head out.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is happening right now — and Atlanta is one of the host cities. Saturday night, June 27 at 7:30 PM, DR Congo faces Uzbekistan at Atlanta Stadium in a Group Stage match. Atlanta is hosting eight total matches including a semifinal in July, and the energy in the city this summer is something Henry County residents should experience at least once.
